Transportation Security Administration

For TSA agency, part of Department of Homeland Security, BestSoft team members delivered multiple Screening Gateway projects within the Office of Credentialing and Vetting. The Screening Gateway replaces the process that required TSA to accept paper applications and then manually compare the information provided to information contained in a number of disparate data sets, such as FBI criminal records files. The Screening Gateway automates that process by automatically checking the information provided against same data files, aggregating the results, and then using a sophisticated scoring and modeling engine to determine suitability.

• Successful implementation of Hazardous Material Endorsements Screening Gateway which processes applications for all HAZMAT drivers in the US.
• Successful implementation of Register Traveler Screening Gateway which processes all Registered Traveler applications from Orlando Airport.
• Successful implementation of Transportation Workers Screening Gateway which processes all applications for transportation employees at several key ports in the US.
• Successful implementation of Applicant Intake Portal, which allows holders of commercial driver licenses in seventeen states to apply directly to TSA for HME.

U.S. Coast Guard

For US Coast Guard, part of Department of Homeland Security, BestSoft team members led effort to achieve Certification and Accreditation (C&A) for 5 systems. Architect of the Capitol

Through the Public Health Service, BestSoft has helped the Architect of the Capitol in the design, development and rollout of their Job Hazards Analysis application that is part of their comprehensive Environment Health and Safety program. The application allows health and safety managers to record, recommend and analyze all jobs with respect to their potential hazards and adherence safety precautions. The Architect of the Capitol is responsible to the United States Congress for the maintenance, operation, development, and preservation of the United States Capitol Complex, which includes the Capitol, the congressional office buildings, the Library of Congress buildings, the Supreme Court building, the U.S. Botanic Garden, the Capitol Power Plant, and other facilities.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)

Through the Public Health Service, BestSoft has helped the ATF in the design, development and rollout of their HEPP Database application that is part of their comprehensive Environment Health and Safety program. The application allows Fire Investigators to collect sample data from investigation sites and run reports to analyze the data for overexposure issues and look at trends in the use of protective equipment.

Arbitron

World leader in radio ratings. BestSoft team members worked to establish IT Governance, open source adoption, development process and procedures, capacity planning, code standards and change control policies. We reengineered and developed various projects:

• Instrumental in the initiation, planning and ongoing management of projects to replace critical legacy systems consisting of 42 different languages and technologies. Identification of the critical path through the legacy systems that include server-based systems and desktop-based software, and the workflow associated with these activities.
• Portal People Meter project, which is Java/J2EE based application, increased performance and throughput by 250% and stabilized the operational aspects of the application that enabled the further commercialization of the service.
• Developed an Oracle Data Warehouse star schema for new, web-based product providing robust, next generation, replacement of core enterprise reporting functionality to the Radio Market business. Designed Oracle data warehouse star schema, Automated all scripts for data extracting, transforming and loading (ETL) data from star schema to MySQL 4.1. Enforced data validation at the ETL time, provided data quality guidelines and standards. Designed de-normalized for performance schema in MySQL, plus data compression, indexing, queries optimization.
• Implemented a multimedia collection and processing system that processed up to 40 Million records a day, collecting information from multiple distribution networks.
• Developed Client Information System Application for consolidation of all client information from seven different data sources in the centralized Oracle repository. J2EE application deployed to WebLogic Server and implemented using MVC pattern.

Sentient - Surgical Monitoring Services

Company is the pioneer in the Intra Operative Monitoring. Web-based data collection and reporting system offers multiple, simultaneous interactions with the most current data provided, automatic tracking of data status, reporting capabilities, and nightly batch process for invoice generation. Application has been implemented using JBoss, EJB, JSP, Servlets, Oracle 9i, Linux.

Transforming medical industry in the electronic data format. Resolved MySQL performance bottlenecks with PHP website, database transactions management, persistence layer, and database server configuration, which improved scalability of the system.
